Season of Fools - Sortie 001 is the first three chapters of a mecha novel focused on the events taking place in the Vangr Expanse. Utilizing a substance present in the expanse, faster than light travel has been achieved. In this new world, power concentrates at the top with a council of corporations holding the strings. While a full declaration of war is held off by the existence of the council, tensions have been rising for decades. Battles over resources and technology are waged using Einherjar; ten meter tall humanoid war machines, their pilots nothing more than deniable assets. Season of Fools begins with an abnormally peaceful job for Avalon and her AI, that quickly spirals into something that will disrupt the status quo of the Vangr Expanse forever.
